Hi there.  I replaced a cracked digitizer on a Wildfire S for a friend but the replacement one only works properly on the very left side of the screen.  When I touch the middle or right side nothing happens EXCEPT if I use my other hand and place one finger on the top of the screen vertically in line with the area I am trying to manipulate on the screen.

Example: I want to touch the settings icon on the right of the screen.  Tapping it doesn't work normally, but if I hold a finger from my other hand anywhere above the settings icon and then tap it, it works fine.  I don't need to press heavily, all it needs is to sense my other finger there.  As soon as I lift my other finger off, it stops working again. Same with scrolling.  I can scroll a menu up and down with a second finger on the screen but as soon as I lift that finger off, it stops scrolling.  Also, it doesn't work if my other finger is anywhere else on the screen.  It HAS to be vertically inline with the area I am manipulating.

Has anyone had a problem similar to this before?  It seems like it's related to the extra capacitance being on the screen but I'm not sure if that would be related to a broken connector or a full out faulty digitizer. Other than the ribbon cable, is there anything else that needs to be electrically connected to the digitizer or are there any other points-of-contact that are important?  The gasket holding it in place doesn't seem to be conductive but I've made sure it has good perimeter contact anyways.

This problem is really strange.  Any suggestions would be helpful.

No solution yet.  Sorry.  I've pretty much given up on it.  I noticed on the new digitizer that the cable attached to it is much larger where it meets with the screen.  Maybe it's the wrong part.  My friend ordered it but it might be for a different version of firmware.  That's about the only thing I can think of that would be giving me this problem.  Any ideas would be a great help.

well this issue seems to be catching.  I have seen few reviews which is telling exactly the same.  For my wildfire S - the same issue was there - initially the right hand side touch was less responsive and then the responsivess was nil.  Hence I have submitted the same at the service centre and awaiting the response.  Already I was having issues with Battery and ridiculous internal memory - which we can bear to some extent.  But what is the use of a touch phone if the touch response is bad?
