Anyone know how to do this? Can you do it so the contact would sync the picture from their facebook profiles?

FYI, I have been searching for the answers for the last two days. Finally I found out the reason why I can't at the first place.

Please do be reminded we can't place contact pictures directly into the SIM card. Therefore you must export out all your contacts from the SIM to the phone before you can do so.

These are the steps you can do:
1. Press (^) to the apps menu, and select "Contacts".
2. At the contacts, press "menu" and you'll see "Imports/Exports".
3. Import all or select certain contacts to be imported to the phone.
4. Then go to gallery and select the picture, press "menu" and touch on "set as" then select "contact icon", and search for the contact that you wanted to assign the picture with.

I might be being thick here, but I'm trying to follow those steps and I don't have a 'Contacts' in my apps menu. All I can find is my list of people ?

Looks like there's a recent update. Try to find the 'People' in the apps menu, and follow the rests of the steps.

If I move my contacts from SIM to phone as you suggest does this delete them from the SIM or merely copy them?

when you import from sim contacts get copied, then when in people press menu,settings,view and uncheck sim contacts so you won't see multiple contacts but if anything happens to your phone all numbers are on sim

Easy10: No prob.

For the placing the gallery picture to the contacts on the phone, just go to gallery, select the picture and place it on the contacts, very easy.

find your contact in people or search people, open ,menu, edit, press picture icon in top left, and choose from camera or gallery, and if contacts are linked facebook etc.
also you can open a contact and if already linked press link icon on top right, menu, and you can select which pic to use and which contact name its stored under, then done. Cheesy
