Hello,  Smiley

At Phones4U they have a SIM-free HTC wildfire (£180),  i was going to buy one when a problem arose...

Apparently o2 don't support the HTC wildfire, therefore if i got one of these the internet, picture messaging, maps etc... wouldn't work. The people at Phones 4 u said that i just need to ring them up then i should receive 2 text messages to install the settings..  but after enquiring with o2 customer services they said they don't support the wildfire Sad ?

I was wondering if anyone had a wildfire on pay and go on o2 and if they had the same problem, or how i could get round it?

Really disappointed to hear this, as i really want a wildfire!!

If i cant continue being with o2 is their any other networks that have a similar package to the o2 text and web? - unlimited texts and internet - £15/month

Thanks

They may not support the Wildfire, ie they don't sell it, but there is no reason that the phone would not work on O2

Just pop your O2 sim card in and it should select the O2 network for voice & sms. You may need to set up the data yourself, which should be more or less the same as this : http://forum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=24802

I've got an unlocked 3 phone with a Vodafone sim in it and had to set up the data. It took a couple of minutes and it works fine.

Hi all,

New to the forum as I've just got a wildfire from ebay.  I put in an o2 sim and just changed the settings for o2's Access Point Name and it works a treat - I'm on Text and Web which gives 500MB (at the moment) for £10 per month - email, web, maps work fine - if you need any assistance, drop me a line.

Hiya.  I have an HTC Wildfire on o2 and am having all sorts of problems with it.  I've tried many different settings but none of them work.  I have just phoned o2 AGAIN and asked for the Desire settings to see if that worked but no luck.  I'm just about to give up and change to orange or t-mobile (if I can find a deal as good as the one I have now - 600 minutes unlimited txts and unlimited internet for £20 per month) so if I were you I wouldn't even bother with this one, not with o2 anyway.  Let me know if you do happen to find any settings for it. Good luck.

Hi all, been reading for a while so thought I should register.

You can get that deal with giffgaff.com that's who i have in my wildfire, there is also a settings page with giffgaff to help you out. If you want i can send you a sim which when you activate with putting a tenner on it you get an extra fiver on it. They run on the 02 network. Works for me anyway.

I am an O2 PAYG customer and upgraded to a Wildfire at Carphone Warehouse about two months ago. Great phone and no problem whatsoever with O2 network.

The O2 settings on the webpage below are the ones that worked for me on my HTC Wildfire:
